Following the Glamsterdam hard fork on Ethereum Sepolia, we have added two RPC API methods and two block response fields to the RPC API and the Data API. This notice also announces the end of support for Blast.
The Glamsterdam hard fork introduced block access lists (EIP-7928) on Ethereum Sepolia. A block access list records the accounts, storage, balances, nonces, and code that were accessed or changed while executing a block.
The Glamsterdam hard fork is currently applied only to Ethereum Sepolia. Once the hard fork is applied to Ethereum Mainnet, these changes will be extended to Mainnet as well.
1. New RPC API Methods
Two RPC API methods for retrieving block access lists have been added to Ethereum Sepolia.
| Method | Description | CU |
|---|---|---|
eth_getBlockAccessList | Returns the block access list of the specified block as JSON. | 530 |
debug_getRawBlockAccessList | Returns the same block access list as raw RLP-encoded bytes. | 530 |
- Both methods are available only on Ethereum Sepolia. The endpoint is
https://ethereum-sepolia.nodit.io/{YOUR_API_KEY}. - They are available on the Developer plan or higher.
- Specifying a block before the hard fork returns the
-32001error (Resource not found).
2. New Block Response Fields
The following fields have been added to block responses in the RPC API and the Data API.
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
blockAccessListHash | Hash of the block access list. |
slotNumber | Beacon chain slot number in which the block was proposed. |
| API | Methods with the new fields |
|---|---|
| RPC API | eth_getBlockByNumber · eth_getBlockByHash |
| Data API | getBlockByHashOrNumber · getBlocksWithinRange |
- Both fields have values only for Ethereum Sepolia blocks after the hard fork. Responses for other blocks and chains do not include these fields.
- Existing response fields are unchanged.
3. End of Support for Blast
As the Blast Foundation has shut down operation of the chain, Nodit is ending support for Blast.
- Blast has been removed from the Supported Chains list, and Blast chain documentation is no longer provided.
